Therapy is a process designed to explore why identified problems are
present in your life. Therapy explores unconscious as well as conscious
reasons for present behaviors.
Most insurance companies offer mental health counseling as part of your
medical plan. The therapist is required to give a diagnostic label, such as
depression or anxiety, for insurance reimbursement.
Coaching deals with goals and life changes that enhance your life without
having to explore the past. It is action oriented and deals with the present.
Coaching does not require a psychiatric diagnosis.
